Malnourished Dog Found Locked Inside Plastic Container At Hotel

Roswell police say hotel housekeeping staff found the dog while cleaning the room. The owner is wanted for aggravated animal cruelty.

ROSWELL, GA — Roswell police are looking for the owner of a dog found emaciated and locked inside a container found in a hotel room.

Officers on May 16 were dispatched to Studio 6 Motel at 9955 Old Dogwood Road and met with hotel staff. According to police, a malnourished dog was found locked inside a plastic container by housekeeping staff.

Officers removed the dog, who did not have any access to food or water, Roswell police added. The pup was transported to Chattahoochee Animal Center on Alpharetta Street to receive emergency care.

Police have secured an aggravated animal cruelty warrant for 38-year-old Alton Coates, the dog's owner. Coates is 5'7'' tall and weighs around 187 pound, and has short hair and a short beard.
