Nathan Deal, Chris Christie Will Visit Roswell on Thursday

The governors for the states of Georgia and New Jersey, respectively, will visit the city's Alive After 5 festival.

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal on Thursday will pay a visit to Roswell with a special guest in tow.

Gov. Deal will be joined by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Roswell Mayor Jere Wood on the steps of City Hall at 38 Hill Street around 6 p.m., the city said in a press release.

After some brief comments, both governors will visit Alive After 5, Roswell’s renowned monthly street festival in its downtown historic district.

Canton Street will be closed at 6 p.m., about 30 minutes earlier than it is typically closed, between Magnolia Street and Norcross Street. It will remain closed to all vehicles until 10 p.m.

As a reminder, the following road closures also take place for Alive After 5:

  • Webb Street between Canton Street and Mimosa Boulevard (4:30 to 10 p.m.)
  • Elizabeth Way between SR 9/120 and Canton Street (4:30 to 10 p.m.)
  • Park Square between SR 9/120 and Mimosa Boulevard (4:30 to 10 p.m.)

Detours will be in place, and residents are encouraged to follow signs, slow down and be alert.

Tomorrow’s Alive After 5 is the final event in the annual seven-month series, which has been held on the third Thursday of each month since April.
