National Night Out Returns Aug. 1 In Roswell

The free, family-friendly event is designed to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and local communities.

ROSWELL, GA -- The Roswell Police Department is inviting local residents to come out and mingle with the men and women in blue who are sworn to protect the community as part of its National Night Out initiative.

The police department's event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1 on the grounds of Roswell City Hall. The free, family-friendly event will include various children's activities such as rock climbing, face painting, games, prizes and local vendors.

Of course, be sure to come hungry, as there will be plenty of food and drinks from Target, which is sponsoring the event.

Vehicles and equipment from the Roswell Police Department, Roswell Fire Department, National Park Service, North Fulton SWAT and other agencies will be available for people to see and explore. Roswell police K-9's will also be on hand to greet community members.

National Night Out is designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners. Its goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs and, most importantly, send a message that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
