UPDATE: "Hollowed Out" Hand Grenade Found in Mountain Park

The grenade was discovered by landscaping crews cleaning an area around an abandoned shed.

UPDATE at 4:09 p.m.: Roswell police say they’ve cleared the scene, and the object discovered ended up “being a hollowed out grenade.”

Officers with the Roswell Police Department were called to nearby Mountain Park where a landscaping crew discovered a hand grenade while working in the area.

According to the agency’s Facebook page, crews discovered the grenade buried in the ground on West Lake Drive while cleaning in an area around an abandoned shack.

Roswell police called in a bomb technician with Cobb County police, who disposed of the device.

The police department added that it encourages its citizens to call 911 immediately if they come across a suspicious device or grenade and not to touch the object.
