New K-9 Joins Roswell Police Force

Saar, a female Belgian Malinois, is undergoing a six-week training course with officer Davis Gardner.

A new four-legged officer has joined the Roswell Police Department.

Saar is the newest K-9 in training for the agency, the agency said on its Facebook page. Saar, a female Belgian Malinois, was born on June 15, 2013. Saar, whose black coat differs from the traditional tan-coated Malinois, arrived to the United States in November from Holland.

She started classes in December with handler, officer Davis Gardner. The K-9 certification course includes tracking, substance detection, criminal apprehension (bite work) and article/evidence search.
