New Principal Named For Roswell High School

Dr. Robert Shaw will take over for Jerome Huff, who retired at the end of the 2016-17 school year.

ROSWELL, GA -- A new face will soon begin perusing the halls of Roswell High School.

Dr. Robert Shaw, the current administrator at Riverwood International Charter School in Sandy Springs, has been tapped by the Fulton County School Board to lead the Hornets. The principal, whose service in Roswell will begin on July 1, succeeds Jerome Huff, who retired at the end of the school year.

"Mr. Huff has served the students, staff and parents in Fulton County for the past 17 years," said Margaret Pupillo, area superintendent of the Northwest Learning Community. "We are so appreciative for his leadership and dedication to our students and families in the Roswell community."

Fulton County Schools rolled out a survey to gather feedback on the qualities Roswell High School community would like to see in its next principal.

Dr. Shaw was appointed as Riverwood's principal in 2013, Fulton County Schools spokesperson Susan Hale told Patch. Before that, he was principal at Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs from 2009 to 2013.

He also taught history and Advanced Placement Government at Avondale High School in DeKalb County and Campbell High School in Cobb County. He also was an assistant principal at Cobb's Pope High School before he became Hillgrove’s principal.
