ROSWELL, GA — North Fulton Community Charities’ Thanksgiving program served 445 families and 131 seniors this year. The annual program provides families with a frozen turkey, grocery store gift card and bags of non-perishable food to prepare their own Thanksgiving meal at home. Seniors receive a holiday basket filled with non-perishable food items, a grocery store gift card and small gift.

“The holiday assistance program is so important to the families we serve because it allows them to enjoy the holiday season with their families without the financial burden the holidays often bring,” said Eden Purdy, Director of Programs at North Fulton Community Charities. “This program is so special because every single bag of groceries, frozen turkey, gift card and basket we gave out was donated by the community. We live in a generous community, and we are happy to be able to connect donors with individuals and families that desperately need the help.”

There were 380 volunteers on-site over the weekend helping with the Thanksgiving program. The volunteers did everything including sorting food, delivering senior baskets and carrying groceries. Many more volunteers organized food drives and gift card drives throughout the area.
