Police: Bomb Making Materials Found at Roswell Park

A runner discovered a backpack with the materials on Tuesday at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area near Vickery Creek.

The FBI is investigating a suspicious backpack found at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area near Vickery Creek.

A runner found the package on Tuesday at the park, which sits off Riverside Drive, Roswell police said on its Facebook page. Inside the package were “bomb making materials,” the agency added.

Along with federal authorities, the Cobb County Bomb Squad was also called in to assist with the package’s removal.

The FBI returned to the park on Wednesday to continue with its investigation, which Roswell police said remains active. According to 11 Alive, the federal agency is waiting lab results on the materials found inside the backpack.
