Students Use Money From Chores To Buy Food For Less Fortunate Families

Primrose Roswell students took a hands-on approach to generosity by using their own chore money to purchase food for needy families.

ROSWELL, Ga. (Dec. 9, 2015) – Primrose School of Roswell North students have kept their little hands busy doing Chores for Charity this holiday season. Private Pre-Kindergarten students completed chores around their homes to earn money. Then, they brought their hard-earned chore money to Primrose Roswell and pooled their class funds together. They totaled up their earnings, created a class budget and shopping list and then headed out on field trips to Publix. They used their lists to purchase nonperishable food items to contribute to Primrose Roswell’s annual Caring and Giving Can-A-Thon, which was held throughout the month of November.

The Primrose Roswell school bus brought a special delivery of over 1,000 cans and nonperishable food items to North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) on December 4. NFCC serves approximately 80 to 100 families per day, five days a week. They serve Roswell, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton and Mountain Park.

The annual Can-A-Thon is part of the Caring and Giving program. This aspect of the Primrose Schools Balanced Learning® curriculum helps students understand the value of generosity while creating a hands-on approach to math, nutrition and planning skills.
