Proposed Big Creek Parkway Would Alleviate Roswell Traffic Congestion
The city has scheduled a public open house in December to discuss the proposal to build a new road to also provide better connectivity.

The Roswell’s Department of Transportation has scheduled a public open house on its proposal to alleviate local traffic.
The open house to discuss the proposed Big Creek Parkway project will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 at Mimosa Elementary School.
The Big Creek Parkway project is a key consideration in Roswell’s long-range planning to alleviate local traffic congestion and provide better connectivity between the eastern and western portions of the city.

The meeting’s agenda includes an informal presentation of the Locally Preferred Alternative (the particular alignment/location of the proposed road) in an open-house format. The public will be able to view project information, ask questions of staff and make comments.
The proposed project includes a new roadway from Warsaw Road just north of Holcomb Bridge Road/S.R. 140, extending east across S.R. 400 between the Holcomb Bridge Road and Mansell Road interchanges. The new road would then connect to the existing intersection of Old Alabama Road and Holcomb Woods Parkway and end at Holcomb Bridge Road/S.R. 140, and would include a sidewalk and bicycle path.

This project is a long-term project with no identified funding for right-of-way acquisition or construction at this time.
“Roswell is committed to working closely with the people living and working in the project area, and meetings like this give the public an opportunity learn about and participate in the development of the project,” the city said in a press release.
Mimosa Elementary School is at 1550 Warsaw Road. Visit the city’s website for the project for more information.
