Rape Suspect Met Alleged Victim On Dating App: Cops

Roswell police are looking for Christopher Gampel, 46, who is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his residence.

ROSWELL, GA — The Roswell Police Department is teaming up with Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta to help capture a man accused of raping a woman he met using a dating app. Christopher Gampel, 46, is wanted on rape and aggravated sodomy charges in connection to a May 2017 incident, said police spokesperson Lisa Holland.

"[The] victim was slipped the date rape drug, and both had taken a taxi back to his residence in Roswell where she was sexually assaulted," Holland added.

Gampel's last known vehicle is a white Ford Ranger bearing Georgia tag PTN8032. He is about 5'10'' tall, weighs roughly 187 pounds and has a distinctive tattoo on his right shoulder, Crime Stoppers said.

Anyone who knows of Gampel's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404 577-TIPS (8477). All callers remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 if their tip helps lead to his arrest.
