Real Estate Goes High-Tech
Real estate has moved toward high-tech, with some real estate agents using drones with high-definition cameras for marketing.
Atlanta, GA - Cameras on smart phones have come a long way, but real estate agents are increasingly turning to more high-tech ways to capture and distinguish homes listed for sale. “We have a video team that can bring out a drone with multiple HD cameras and capture the attention of buyers,” says Sara Sloan of Keller Williams Realty Consultants. She just finished filming a video for a home that used multiple cameras and actors to capture footage inside a luxury home, outside the home, and of the surrounding neighborhood.
“There are FAA certifications that are needed to use a drone, which can make it an expensive process, but it really makes a difference in capturing the attention of prospective buyers.” The FAA currently prohibits using drones for commercial purposes unless the operator has petitioned for special approval, which also requires obtaining a FAA-issued pilot’s license.
Videos with unique footage of a home and the surrounding area can also spread rapidly on social media, drawing attention to a home for sale. Studies show that nearly all buyers begin their search online. This makes it easy to quickly identify options, and buyers will often eliminate many homes from their search just based on the quality of the pictures. “Professional pictures and a video can walk the buyer into a home, show them around, and make them start to imagine the home as theirs.”
