Remembering The 9/11 Victim From Roswell

A man from Roswell died at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. This is his story.

ROSWELL, GA — Friday marks 19 years since the deadliest terror attack on American soil.

On Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist-hijacked passenger planes slammed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field near rural Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The era-defining tragedies took the lives of 2,977 people, including more than 400 first responders.

Nearly two decades later — even in the midst of a global pandemic — Americans are coming together to honor those whose lives were snuffed out by terrorism.

Newly remarried, Gann called his wife, Robin, "twice to tell her what had happened and then to say goodbye; smoke was everywhere, and he didn’t think he would make it," Ray wrote.

Gann grew up in Smyrna and attended Wills High School. After graduating from Georgia Tech, he pursued a master’s degree in finance and marketing from Mercer University.

The City of Roswell created the Mike Gann 9/11 Memorial by the Roswell Area Park's pond, 10495 Woodstock Rd.
