The ceremony will get underway at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 21. Scheduled to attend Friday’s festivities include Kenneth Zeff, interim superintendent of Fulton County Schools; Linda Schultz, Fulton County School Board member; Roswell Mayor Jere Wood; and Jeff Juliano, architect with Collins Cooper Carusi Architects.
The school site is temporarily the home of Esther Jackson Elementary School, which was torn down over the summer to make way for its new building. This arrangement is occurring for the 2015-2016 school year only until the new school opens next August.

At that time, Esther Jackson students will return to their new building and the Highway 9 school will reopen under a new identity, leadership and student body.
Features that makes the Highway 9 school different include a linear layout, which takes up a smaller footprint because of its multi-level design (as compared to other elementary schools in the area that are one story and more spread out). This is the first school to use the design in North Fulton, but it’s been used successfully in Sandy Springs and South Fulton.
Light refreshments provided by the school’s builder, Hogan Construction Group, will be served following the ceremony.
The school is located at 1201 Alpharetta Street (also known as S.R. 9) in Roswell.
