Riverside Sounds Concert Series Kicks Off Saturday

ROSWELL, GA -- On Saturday, the city of Roswell will launch its 2016 Riverside Sounds Concert Series featuring Geoff Achison and the Souldiggers.

The first in the series of six free outdoor concerts will be held on May 7 at Riverside Park.
Concerts will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 pm. the first Saturday of the month from May through October.

There will be two food trucks at the event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and guests are also invited to bring their own picnic items, chairs and blankets.
Equal parts New Orleans Funk, driving Blues, jazzy Soul and outback Mojo, Geoff Achison and the Souldiggers is southern blues/roots music from the very deepest South – Australia. Geoff is a jaw-dropping, crowd pleasing guitar virtuoso with a rich vocal style from Melbourne.
He was as chosen one of the “Top Ten Hottest New Guitarists” by Guitar Player Magazine and made their “Top 100+ Guitarists You Should Know” roster. He’s been a 17-year guest guitar instructor at Jorma Kaukonen's (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane) Fur Peace Guitar Ranch and an exciting festival favorite featured on PBS, NPR and CNN.
He has played with The Allman Brothers (Geoff voted the #1 guest at the Allman Brothers Beacon 2012 run by Relix Magazine), George Porter, Jr., Wood Brothers, Randall Bramblett, Delbert McClinton, Kofi Burbridge and many others on his frequent U.S. tours.
In 2013, he won multiple awards at the VicTas Australian Blues Awards for a pair of CDs released there. He also released a DVD/CD celebrating 20 years of “The Souldiggers in Oz” in 2014 that reached #3 on the Australian Blues Chart. His new CD is on the way this summer.
Riverside Sounds concerts are produced by the city of Roswell’s Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department. Riverside Park is located at 575 Riverside Road.
