Roswell Buys Land For Oxbo Road Realignment Project

The city is expected to close over the next 90 days on .2 acres of land at 689 Atlanta Street for its project.

ROSWELL, GA — The city of Roswell is moving forward with plans to revamp Oxbo Road to become a viable thoroughfare motorists can use to get around town. The City Council at its March 26 meeting approved a resolution directing staff to begin the process of closing on property at 689 Atlanta Street.

The land, consisting of a small gas station and convenience store, is about .2 acres and the city is expected to close within 90 days for a price not to exceed $380,000. The purchase is part of Roswell's plans to realign Oxbo Road to serve as an alternate of S.R. 9/Alpharetta Highway.

The project would eliminate the staggered intersection at Atlanta Street and convert Oxbo Drive to a two-way street between Mimosa Boulevard and Atlanta Street.

It also provides turning lanes at each approach and adds a traffic signal at the intersection. This project will also include extending Elm Street from its existing ending at Maple Street to the intersection of Oxbo Road and Pleasant Hill Street, and converting Elm Street and Pleasant Hill Street from one-way to two-way streets.
