Roswell Councilman Charged With Child Sex Crimes (UPDATED)

Kent Igleheart is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old girl that started when she was around 13.

ROSWELL, GA -- A Roswell elected official is behind bars after he was arrested Thursday on various child sex charges.

DeKalb County police have charged Kent Allen Igleheart with sexual exploitation of children, enticing a child for indecent purposes and furnishing alcohol to a minor following a sting operation carried out at a shopping mall on Thursday.

The agency's Special Victims Unit arrested Igleheart following its investigation into "inappropriate sexual behavior" alleged by a 17-year-old female victim.

According to police, the councilman started an online relationship with the victim when she was about 13 years old.

"During that time frame Igleheart is alleged to have engaged in inappropriate conversations and the exchange of nude photographs with the minor child," DeKalb police say.

With that information in hand, detectives initiated an undercover operation Oct. 20.

Igleheart allegedly arranged to meet the female victim at Northlake Mall and when he arrived at the shopping center, he was taken into custody by investigators.

Major Stephen Fore said Igleheart allegedly arrived at the mall with alcoholic beverages on his person.

Those detectives also learned the elected official rented a hotel room at Days Inn on Northlake Parkway, and search warrant was executed at the room as well as his Roswell home, Fore stated.

“We will not tolerate these types of crimes against our children," said DeKalb County Public Safety Director Dr. Cedric Alexander. "The protection of our children is a priority. This is an example of the extraordinary work of our Internet Crimes Against Children Unit."

Igleheart, 53, represents Post 4 on the Roswell council. He was first elected in 2001, and his current term ends in December 2017.

According to his biography on the city's website, Igleheart is an actor, producer, writer and voice-over artist. He's appeared in more than 60 movies, television shows and commercials, including Investigation Discovery's "Swamp Murders" and a film called "The Last Punch."

He's also the previous owner of a company promoting alternative fuels, transportation and watershed protection.

Fore said that while the investigation remains active, there's a possibility that more victims could be out there. Anyone who has additional information is asked to contact the DeKalb Police Special Victims Unit at (770) 724-7710.
