Roswell Election Results: North Fulton Republicans Lead Races

Voters in north Fulton County are continuing their tradition of backing and supporting Republican candidates at the local, state and federal level.

Roswell residents who live in Georgia Senate District 56 and House District 48 are indicating they want to stick with their current leadership.

With 50 out of 55 precincts reporting, unofficial results show incumbent Republican Senator John Albers is leading Democrat Akhtar Sadiq in the Senate District 56 race.

Albers currently has 70 percent, or 30,031 votes to Sadiq’s 30 percent, or 12,620 votes. With 14 out of 14 precincts reporting, incumbent Republican Harry Geisinger currently leads with 65 percent, or 8,761 votes. His Democratic opponent James Johnson trails with 35 percent, or 4,808 votes.

Additionally, voters in Roswell and north Fulton also appear to be on their way to re-electing U.S. Rep. Tom Price to another two-year term in Congress. With 116 out of 122 precincts reporting, Price is leading the race in Fulton with 67 percent, or 57,403 votes to Democrat Robert Montigel’s 33 percent, or 27,639 votes.

Other contested north Fulton County races of note:

Senate District 6 (32 out of 32 precincts reporting):

• Republican Hunter Hill (incumbent): 71 percent, or 17,404 votes
• Democrat Antron Johnson: 29 percent, or 7,039 votes

House District 50 (13 out of 13 precincts reporting):

• Republican Lynne Riley (incumbent): 69 percent, or 8,045 votes
• Democrat Paul Troop: 31 percent, or 3,721 votes

Fulton County Commission District 7 at-large (354 out of 366 precincts reporting)

• Democrat John Eaves (incumbent): 63 percent, or 146,910 votes
• Republican Earl Cooper: 37 percent, or 85956 votes

While the governor’s race has been called for incumbent Republican Governor Nathan Deal, Fulton voters were partial to Democratic challenger Jason Carter. With 293 out of 366 reporting, Carter is leading Deal in the county with 63 percent of the vote to Deal’s 35 percent. Libertarian candidate Andrew Hunt has received 1.95 percent of the vote.

The U.S. Senate rate is also leaning Democratic in Fulton County. Democrat Michelle Nunn has so far received 65 percent of the vote, compared to Republican David Perdue’s 34 percent and Libertarian candidate Amanda Swafford’s .04 percent.

That race has also been called for Perdue.

As for the state schools superintendent race, Democrat Valerie Wilson leads the race in Fulton with 64 percent, compared to Republican Richard Woods at 36 percent.
