Roswell Exec Attends GA Tourism Day At Capitol

The state's tourism industry brought in a record $63 billion in economic impact in 2017, the release says.

From The City of Roswell: February 5, 2019, marked Tourism, Hospitality & Arts Day at the State Capitol. This day brings hospitality and arts industry professionals from around the state to downtown Atlanta to celebrate the economic impact that the tourism industry has on the state of Georgia. By attending Tourism Day at the Capitol, Visit Roswell Executive Director Andy Williams and Marketing Manager Danielle Purdie showed support of the impact that tourism has on the local economy. “Tourism is absolutely economic development, and that’s seen in small-business employment and job support,” says Andy Williams, Executive Director at the Roswell Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“The Roswell community features a wide variety of tourism product that benefits greatly from the visitor spending that occurs daily throughout the destination.” The state's tourism industry generated a record-breaking $63.1 billion in economic impact in 2017, for an increase of 3.8 percent over last year, according to the U.S. Travel Association and Tourism Economics. Yesterday, leaders in the industry presented Governor Kemp with a check representing the $3.2 billion in state and local tax revenue generated by tourism-related expenditures in 2017. Direct tourist spending in Fulton County increased in 2017 and resulted in $9,180.67 million being spent by visitors. What does this mean to residents of Roswell? Direct visitor spending in Fulton County resulted in an average household savings of $1,887 in taxes for Fulton County residents. Visit Roswell incorporates targeted advertising and marketing programs with aggressive sales and public relations efforts to build the image of Roswell as a destination and increase visitation.
