Roswell Firefighters Rescue Swimmer, Battle House Fire

A swimmer was rescued from Vickery Creek on Sunday, and firefighters fought a blaze at a home on North Shore Drive early Monday morning.

ROSWELL, GA -- Roswell firefighters had to come to the rescue of a swimmer and fight a fire that significantly damaged a home in two separate incidents occurring over the last two days.

Roswell fire crews were dispatched to Old Mill Park around 5 p.m. Sunday, July 9.

Once on the scene, those emergency personnel from the department's Special Operations Team had to roll out its resources to conduct the rescue of a man from Vickery Creek near the popular waterfall attraction. A rapid deployment craft was used to transport the male victim to land where he was treated for injuries. He was later transported to a nearby trauma center for follow-up care, said Roswell Fire Capt. Pabel Troche.

Around 3:45 a.m. Monday, July 10, firefighters were dispatched to a call of a residential fire on North Shore Drive. They arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. The residents inside the structure were able to escape, and "crews took a defensive posture" in their attack on the fire, Troche added.

One occupant of the house was transported to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation while one firefighter at the scene was treated on-site for exhaustion, Troche added.
