Roswell Hispanic Citizens Police Academy Graduates First Class

The eight-week class exposed residents to various aspects of the Roswell Police Department.

ROSWELL, GA -- Several residents recently graduated from the Roswell Police Department's first-ever Hispanic Citizens Police Academy.

The participants lived in Roswell and nearby communities, and also included Roswell business owners, church members and elected officials.

The program, the police department said on its Facebook page, is designed to introduce class participants to the various functions of law enforcement.

The eight-week course focused on specific divisions of the agency, providing students with an overview of the its duties and responsibilities.

Some of the areas covered were detective work, crime scene investigations, SWAT, 9-1-1 communications, K-9, uniform patrol and the Detention Center.

Residents who participated in the class are: Oscar Alverez, Antonio Brito, Zunny Calderon, Christian Castro, Ruben Gonzalez, Clara Herrera, Mary Julve, Francisco Mendez, Katherine Mojica, Rey Morilla, Marianna Motta, Diana Pardo, Daniella Ricon, Jose Sanchez, Beatriz Zamora and Roswell City Councilman Marcelo Zapata.
