The project will extend Warsaw Road northward to the intersection of Sun Valley Drive and Alpharetta Highway.

Once complete, the Sun Valley Road Extension will establish a new route for motorists traveling from Mansell Road to Alpharetta Highway. This will help to alleviate traffic at the intersection of Mansell Road and Alpharetta Highway, and create some new multi-modal options and support economic development in the area.

The initial project steps include grading an existing detention pond and creating two water treatment cells to enhance water quality and detention before the water reaches Foe Killer Creek.

Once groundwork and water improvements are complete, work on the road extension and intersection improvements will take place.

The new road extension will be a “complete street,” with 11-foot travel lanes, 4-foot bicycle lanes, a 5-foot sidewalk on the southern side and a 8-foot multi-use path on the northern side.

Intersection improvements will be made at the intersection of Warsaw Road Extension and Finchley Drive/Timbercreek Circle (currently a cul-de-sac) and at the intersection of Sun Valley Drive and Alpharetta Highway.

A single-lane roundabout will be located at the Warsaw intersection, while the Sun Valley intersection will see the addition of flashing yellow left-turn signals.

The project is expected to be completed by late 2017. For more information, visit www.roswellgov.com.
