Roswell HS Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian for Class of 2018

​Roswell High School announces its top two students for the 2018 graduating class of 480 students.

From Roswell HS: Roswell High School announces its top two students for the 2018 graduating class of 480 students. Ashi Awasthi is named valedictorian, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Stetson is salutatorian. Both students will address their fellow graduates and attendees of the Roswell High School graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 24 at 7:30 pm in the Ray Manus Football Stadium on Roswell High School’s campus.

“I am so proud of both of these students for not only their success in their academic pursuits at Roswell, but their work ethic and the support of their families will lead them to continued success,” said Principal Robert Shaw, Ed.D. “They are great representatives of Roswell and the graduating class of 2018.”

Awasthi is the daughter of Govind Awasthi and Meeti Pathri of Roswell. While at Roswell High School, she took 10 Advanced Placement courses and two years of distance math through Georgia Tech. Her numeric average is 103.

Awasthi founded the Math Team, served as an officer for Science National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Pencils for Promise and Mu Alpha Theta. She participated in the Governor’s Honor Program and conducted research last summer with a professor at Duke University. Awasthi has taken taekwondo for 10 years and plays the viola. Her favorite high school memory was playing viola at the Midwest Clinic, a worldwide conference for symphonies and orchestras during her sophomore year.

Awasthi plans to attend Georgia Tech in the fall and pursue mathematics or engineering.

Stetson is the daughter of Ward and Cindy Stetson of Roswell. While at Roswell High School, she took 10 Advanced Placement courses and her numeric average is 101.21.

Stetson has participated in and held offices in French National Honor Society, Flood Leadership and Chemistry Club. She was first violin in the Roswell High School orchestra for three years. Stetson has traveled to Honduras to do mission work for several summers. Stetson was a cheerleader all four years of high school. Her most memorable high school moment is cheering for Roswell High School football in the state championship game in the Georgia Dome in 2016.

She plans to attend Georgia Tech and major in chemistry and biomolecular engineering.
