Roswell Man Indicted on Child Molestation Charges
Canton police say Joshua Morgan Howlett arranged to meet with whom he thought was a child for sexual purposes.

CANTON, GA -- A Roswell man is scheduled to be arraigned later this month on charges he allegedly arranged to meet a child for sexual purposes in Cherokee County.
A Cherokee County grand jury last month indicted Joshua Morgan Howlett on two counts of aggravated child molestation, two counts of child molestation and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes, court records show.
Howlett is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. July 14 at the Cherokee County Justice Center on those charges, those court records indicate.

Canton police arrested Howlett in January after they were contacted by their counterparts at the Plainview Police Department in Connecticut regarding an incident of child molestation “that recently occurred” within the city limits, Canton police previously said.
Those detectives were able to establish a rapport with the previously unnamed suspect --later identified as Howlett -- through text messages while posing as a victim in their early teens.

Detectives were able to establish an arranged meeting with the suspect ”who was set to travel to a predetermined area in the city with the pretense of making additional sexual contact with the victim in this case,” Canton police said in its news release.
The suspect drove to the pre-arranged meeting location and was subsequently arrested by detectives who were waiting in the area. When questioned by detectives, Canton police said Howlett admitted to his involvement in the case.
