Roswell Man Who Sued Jere Wood To Run For Mayor

Michael Litten formally announced his candidacy on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

ROSWELL, GA -- The resident who filed a lawsuit alleging Mayor Jere Wood violated the city's charter by seeking a fifth term in office has formally declared his intentions to become Roswell's next leader.

Michael D. Litten formally rolled out his campaign on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Ann Jackson Gallery on Canton Street.

He plans another announcement at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kale Me Crazy on Holcomb Bridge Road. The 2017 mayoral race will be held during the city's Nov. 7 general election.

Litten states he "brings a wealth of experience to the race, including a 40-year career in the area of health care."

His campaign, which he refers to as the Litten Listens, Litten Leads campaign, will follow the candidate's mantra of “mine is not the only way—mine is but one way," he added.

Litten noted in his press release that he will focus on three areas during his first 100 days in office: championing a healthy Roswell, protecting tress by maintaining the city's Faces of War memorial and promoting a "One Roswell Better Togther" theme through various events.

The Roswell resident in 2016 filed a lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court to have Wood removed from office, alleging the mayor violated the city's charter when he ran for a fifth, four-year term in 2013.

Litten has lived in Roswell for more than 32 years. He is in a committed relationship with Laura Cordell and "enjoys being involved in the lives of her three daughters," Litten added. For the last 21 years, he has lived in the Martin's Landing neighborhood.

A certified health and exercise coach, Litten owns a small, home-based business, Litten's Passion, LLC. He's also the founder of the The Foundation for Premature Infants, Inc., and is the wellness program manager for The Exercise Coach.
