Roswell Martial Arts School to Present Anti-Bullying Seminar

Community Event at The Dojo in Roswell will Cover Strategies Spanning Avoidance and De-escalation – to Physical Self-Defense Techniques

Roswell, GA – October 14, 2021 – The Dojo Crabapple, the Roswell location for The Dojo franchise, announced today it will host a complimentary anti-bullying seminar on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time. The session is being held in observance of National Bullying Prevention Month and is open to kids, parents, teens and adults. There is no registration required and no cost to attend the seminar.

Anti-bullying techniques will be taught using a mix of presentation and practical exercises conducted in a controlled and safe environment. Attendees can expect to learn:

  • Avoidance. Best practices for avoiding situations and threat environments that can facilitate bullying.
  • Verbal escapes. Tips for finding the right words to de-escalate and escape a potential bullying scenario.
  • Self-defense techniques. Tried and true self-defense techniques to protect yourself out of necessity when situations become physical.

“This community event is a small, but meaningful, way for us to support National Bullying Prevention Month,” said Chris Walker, chief instructor, The Dojo Crabapple. “Over a few hours, we’ll work with you to build confidence and learn some of the practical ways anyone can stand up to bullying.”

Chris Walker has studied martial arts for 35 years. He has earned recognition in multiple styles of Karate including a 4th-degree black belt in Yoshukai, a 3rd-degree black belt in Goju-Ryu, a 1st-degree black belt in Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do, and is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. An accomplished fighter, he holds a combined professional and amateur mixed martial arts (MMA) record of 9 wins and 2 losses. He has won regional contests including the Florida State Muay Thai champion, the amateur Florida State MMA champion – and international championships from the World Amateur Kickboxing Organization (WAKO) and World Kickboxing Association (WKA).
