Roswell Memorial Day Service Biggest In Georgia
Roswell Remembers is the biggest Memorial Day event in Georgia, and it's coming on May 29 to honor service members who have died in service.

ROSWELL, GA -- Roswell will host a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 29, an event which is the biggest of its kind in Georgia. On the grounds of the Roswell City Hall, Roswell Remembers will feature speakers who are veterans of WWII and the Korean War, as well as a full ceremony remembering our fallen service members.
The event started in 1997 and is "a non-political, non-commercial ceremony honoring those who gave all in defending our country and the sacrifices made by veterans and their families in order to protect our freedoms," according to a press release.
The keynote speaker will be Hank Freedman, a World War II veteran. He was a machine gunner from 1942 to 1944, and was captured by the Germans at the Battle of the Bulge. While a prisoner of war, he lost 55 pounds before being liberated by the 6th Armored Division. He is the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, Prisoner of War Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and more.

He fought against the Chinese, who outnumbered the Marines 10 to one, as they surrounded the Marine positions. His unit fought through temperatures of negative 50 degrees and he made it out alive. Ted was awarded Five Battle Stars for his combat engagements, according to the press release from Roswell Remembers.
