Roswell Named 3rd Best City To Retire in Georgia

CreditDonkey came up with its list by reviewing information such as senior population, housing, income, recreation and social assistance.

CreditDonkey, a credit card comparison and financial education website, has named Roswell the third best city to retire in Georgia.

To come up with its best places, CreditDonkey collected U.S. Census data for all of Georgia’s incorporated cities with a population of at least 20,000.

Then, it assigned each city a ranking based upon five pieces of information — senior population, housing, income, recreation and healthcare/social assistance.

Other metro Atlanta cities that were in the top 20 include Alpharetta, Stockbridge, Smyrna, Newnan, Atlanta and Lawrenceville.

CreditDonkey notes Roswell is “substantially” larger than most of the cities it reviewed. Of its roughly 93,000 residents, a little over 10 percent are 65 and older.

“Roswell is fairly affluent, something that’s reflected by higher housing prices and a higher median income among seniors,” CreditDonkey said.

Anyone who is curious about Roswell’s antebellum history, checking out its Southern Trilogy Historic Homes (Smith Plantation, Bulloch Hall and Barrington Hall) will be “like taking a trip back in time,” according to CreditDonkey.
