Roswell Officer Given Life Saving Award

Erich Frechen saved the life of a man who was discovered unresponsive from a drug overdose.

Roswell Police Chief Rusty Grant recognized one of his officers on Monday for saving the life of a citizen.

Grant presented Officer Erich Frechen with the department’s Life Saving Award at the Roswell City Council’s Dec. 22 meeting.

Frechen was commended for saving the life of a man who was found unresponsive due to a drug overdose, the Roswell Police Department said on its Facebook page.

Frechen responded the Atlanta Hotel on Old Dogwood Road after the man’s girlfriend called 911 to report that her boyfriend was unresponsive and was not breathing.

Frechen arrived to the scene and immediately began performing CPR on the man, and the officer was able to obtain a pulse from the victim.

Roswell rescue units arrived, and they took over life saving measures.

The man was transported to North Fulton Hospital where he was stabilized. The emergency room doctor at the hospital “indicated that Officer Frechen’s actions saved the patient’s life,” the agency said.

“We are very proud of Officer Frechen,” Roswell police added.
