'Suspicious Man' Arrested In Roswell As Suspect In Car Break-Ins

Dequan Hutchins is linked to at least 10 separate incidents in Roswell dating back to February of 2021, according to police.

ROSWELL, GA — Roswell police arrested a 30-year-old man who they believe was breaking into cars.

On Jan. 21, a little after 3 a.m. police were called to the Harbor Landing Apartments after a resident reported seeing a suspicious man looking into cars, police said in a news release. Officers identified Dequan Hutchins as a suspect after he was seen driving away from the parking lot. Hutchins was known to have outstanding warrants for his arrest for prior entering auto offenses, according to Roswell police.

Around 4:45 a.m., he was seen walking in the parking lot, and immediately taken into custody. He had a glass window-breaker device, police said.

According to police, Hutchins is linked to at least 10 separate entering auto incidents and related crimes dating back to February of 2021. He was taken to the Fulton County Jail and charged with on one count of Entering Auto, three counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft, and five counts of Financial Transaction Card Fraud. Additional charges may appear as the investigation continues.

“An observant witness and a well-coordinated police response has led to the arrest,” police said in the release.
