Roswell Police To Host Active Shooter Seminar

The seminar will be held Feb. 8 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

ROSWELL, GA — The Roswell Police Department will soon present a seminar designed to prepare you with the tools needed to survive an active shooter situation. The agency's Civilian Response To Active Shooter Events class will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

The event is free and open to the public and does not require registration or fees.

The CRASE course is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed in 2004 by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training at Texas State University. The class provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.

Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills. Members of the community who wish to attend need only bring a good attitude and open mind.
