Roswell Police Lieutenant Graduates From FBI National Academy

Lt. William Anastasio graduated from the academy program in Quantico, Virginia, on Friday Sept. 19.

Roswell police Lt. William Anastasio last week graduated from the FBI National Academy Program.

Lt. Anastasio graduated on Friday, Sept. 19 as part of the 257th Session of the academy in Quantico, Virginia. The most recent session consisted of men and women from 49 states.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the program offers 10 weeks of advanced investigative, management and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies.

On average, these officers have 19 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions. Lt. Anastasio has been with the Roswell Police Department 30 years and is currently assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division as a supervisor.

During the session of FBI National Academy Class 257, the members brought items from their home cities and towns for auction. Several Roswell businesses and individuals donated items for this event. The class on Sept. 9 held an auction and raised $17,232, which was the highest amount of money raised by any class up to this date.

The funds were divided up among three organizations, with each group receiving $5744: COPS Kids (benefiting the children of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty), FBINAA Youth Leadership Program and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Museum Building Fund.
