Roswell Police Need Feedback For Accreditation Process
Residents are asked to provide public comment about the police department's ability to achieve re-accreditation.

ROSWELL, GA — A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will arrive March 26 in Roswell to examine all aspects of the Police Department's policy and procedures, management, operations and support services.
Verification by the team that Roswell Police Department meets CALEA's rigorous standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence, Police Chief Rusty Grant said.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session scheduled for 5 p.m. March 27. The session will be held in the Council Chambers at Roswell City Hall at 38 Hill Street (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. The Roswell Police Department has been nationally accredited since 1995 and it must comply with CALEA's 484 standards to maintain its status. The city's CALEA assessors are Chief Wayne McCoy and Mr. Edward Goodman.
Once the CALEA Assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full Commission, who will then decide if the agency is to be granted re-accreditation status. Each assessment consists of three years, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
