Roswell Police Officer Shoots Shoplifting Suspect At Gas Station
Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a suspect in critical condition Thursday morning.
ROSWELL, GA — A suspect was in critical condition Thursday morning after being shot by a police officer during a confrontation at a Roswell gas station.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called to investigate the shooting, which happened just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Shell Gas Station/Food Mart in the 800 block of Atlanta street.
According to a statement released by the bureau, a Roswell Police Department officer had happened into the food mart to make a purchase when he found a clerk accusing a customer of shoplifting. The officer approached the suspect, who was armed with a "large blunt object," according to investigators. The suspect allegedly began to attack the officer, who responded by tasing him.

The taser didn't stop the attack, and the man continued to beat the officer, injuring his arm, according to the bureau. That's when the officer pulled his weapon and fired on the suspect.
Both the officer and the suspect were rushed to the hospital with injuries. The officer suffered an arm injury, and the suspect was in critical condition with at least one gunshot wound.
