Roswell Police Undergo Re-Accreditation Process

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will begin their review on Oct. 24.

ROSWELL, GA -- A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. will arrive Oct. 24 in Roswell to examine all aspects of its police department, 911 Emergency Communications Division's policy and procedures, management, operations and support services.

Verification by the team that Roswell 911 Emergency Communications has met the Commission’s state-of-the art standards is part of a voluntary process to obtain accreditation; a highly prized recognition of law enforcement and communication professional excellence.

The Roswell Police Department, 911 Emergency Communications Division must comply with over 200 standards in order to achieve accreditation status. The assessment team is composed of law enforcement and public safety communications practitioners from similar, but out-of-state agencies.

The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit the 911 Center, agency offices and other places where compliance can be witnessed (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app).

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by telephone. The public may call (770) 640-4182 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.

Anyone who wants to offer written comments about the Roswell Police 911 Emergency Communication’s ability to meet the standards for re-accreditation are requested to write to:

Once the Commission’s assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to be granted accreditation status. Accreditation is for three years, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with those standards, under which it was initially accredited.
