Roswell's Rochelle Nation Turns 'Creative Outlet' into Career

This week we meet Rochelle Nation, jewelry artist and instructor.

What is your business and how long have you been doing it?

I am an independent jewelry artist and instructor, designing and creating jewelry for the past ten years. In 2008, I left my job as Dean of Students at a private high school to pursue making Rochelle Nation Jewelry my new full time career. It was a challenging change, but I absolutely love my new job and the creative outlet jewelry making brings to my life.

What makes you good at what you do?
Being passionate about what you do makes a huge difference. I wake up every morning excited about what’s going to happen that day. I also love being my own boss. I believe that if you have passion for and love what you do, your work will show it.

How did you end up in Roswell area?

My husband and I both moved to Atlanta in 2001. Since we were both from out of state we were unfamiliar with Atlanta and the surrounding towns. Being a Chicago native, I wanted to live in downtown Atlanta. That didn’t last long.  When we decided we wanted something permanent, our realtor encouraged us to take a look at Roswell. We fell in love and settled in right away!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

We love everything Roswell has to offer, especially the dog friendly parks and bike paths. For an evening out, we enjoy the variety of restaurants in the downtown area. There is such a great small town feel about Roswell.

How do you stay connected to the community?
When we first moved to Roswell I knew right away that I wanted to get involved with my community and give back in some way. As a result, I decided to join the Roswell Junior Woman’s Club. I started out as a member then became President and now I am serving as a board member. We have general meetings each month and provide volunteer hours and monetary donations to various non-profit organizations in the Roswell area. For more information please visit the website.

In addition to selling jewelry, I also teach jewelry making classes at the John’s Creek Art Center. Interested crafters can learn how to make beaded jewelry, use resin, discover how to wire wrap and much more. For a detailed list of upcoming classes, please visit the website.

How can people find you?

Folks can find me on my website and on Facebook.
