Roswell Student Promotes Music Therapy For Sick Children

A concert will be held on Friday to raise money for student Caroline Buckner's Gold Award Project, which would support a music therapy program at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

Concert for a Cause is the fundraising event to support Caroline Buckner’s Gold Award project for Girl Scouts of America. 

The concert will be held on Friday, July 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Milton's Cambridge High School and will feature many local performers, including the Cambridge High School Orchestra Quartet, singer Amanda Brennan, Roswell High School bass drums, Southern Tonic Cappella Group, Katherine Shneyderova, Grace Peoples playing strings and the Dillon Broyles Band.

Caroline is a junior at Roswell High School. She serves as the co-captain of the Pit for the Roswell High School Marching Band and first chair percussionist in Roswell’s wind ensemble.  

Her passion for music therapy is the basis for her project, Concert for a Cause.

This Gold Award project would support of the music therapy program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite and will provide them with necessary tools while sharing how much music impacts recuperation for a wide variety of situations.

The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. Open only to girls in high school, this prestigious award challenges Girl Scouts to change the world through a community service project.  

Gold Award recipients spend one to two years on their project and at least 80 hours must be invested in completing a Gold Award project.

Additional information for the event and bracelets being sold as an additional fundraising source will be available at Roswell’s Alive After Five Thursday, July 17.
