Roswell police spokeswoman Lisa Holland said a preliminary investigation shows a 2012 Honda Accord traveling south on Knoll Terrace tried to make a left turn onto Pine Grove Road when it was struck on its driver’s side door by a 1995 Nissan pickup truck.
The Accord “left the roadway, went down an embankment and struck a tree on the driver’s side door,” Holland added. Its driver, 18-year-old Christina Marine Wenke, died at the scene.

The driver of the truck, 17-year-old Ernesto Resendez-Gomez, was transported to North Fulton Hospital with what Holland said were “visible injuries.”
The accident remains under investigation by Roswell police, Holland stated.
Roswell High School principal Jerome Huff notified parents of the news in an email sent Monday morning. Huff stated the school will have counselors, school psychologists and social workers to talk with students who need help coping with their grief.
“Please keep the family of Christina in your thoughts and prayers along with the Roswell High School family,” the principal said. “The most important thing we can do is to be supportive and encourage open expression of feelings.”
