Roswell Ushers In Summer With Tom Glavine, Cool Treats
The Atlanta Braves pitching legend threw out the ceremonial first pitch Tuesday for the city's Summer of Fun initiative.
ROSWELL, GA -- It’s time to get this summer started!
And the city of Roswell kicked off the season in style on Tuesday when two-time Cy Young Award Winner and Atlanta Braves legend Tom Glavine threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Roswell “Summer of Fun.”
More than 100 people, including the children from the Waller Park Day Camp, joined Glavine at the Roswell Rotary Dream Field to celebrate the start of summer with games and icy treats.

Summer of Fun is a three-month initiative led by the Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic & Cultural Affairs Department to encourage health and wellness, community activity and, most importantly, fun.
Thirty unique events are planned throughout the city, from June to August, to provide exciting activities and entertainment for all ages.

“The Summer of Fun initiative is all about getting folks outdoors to play and enjoy our parks," said Morgan Rodgers, director of the Recreation, Parks, Historic & Cultural Affairs Department. "We believe that life should be fun. Our job is to provide as many opportunities as we can to make having fun easy and accessible for everyone."
Residents can expect free outdoor fitness classes at several parks, free outdoor concerts, human foosball, a giant slip 'n' slide, 4th of July Extravaganza, sidewalk chalk contest and a back to school bike parade.
