Roswell is offering to pay half the cost of a tree-planting project for eligible organizations who want to help increase the number and density of trees in the Roswell.
“We are excited to offer this program, which has been designed to provide matching funds to interested parties for the enhancement and beautification of the city,” said Danny Blitch, grants Manager and tree partnership coordinator.

Since the program started in July 2001, Roswell has partnered with numerous organizations to plant 816 hardwood trees and 4,313 other trees, shrubs, and flowering plants. The city has already invested $50,951 in this program, and enjoys partner project support of more than 6,707 volunteer hours.
A wide variety of organizations are eligible for the program, but preference is given to public entities and nonprofit organizations. Eligible organizations include schools, PTAs, student organizations, local businesses, garden clubs, landscape-design companies, religious organizations, Girl Scout/Boy Scout troops, 4H Clubs, Boys/Girls Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis Clubs and other civic organizations.
Eligible projects and locations include, but are not limited to hardwood tree purchase and planting, state/city right-of-way beautification projects, storm damage assistance projects, public properties and more.
Blitch added now is the ideal time for organizations to start applying for the program, as all tree-planting activities would need to occur between November and April, which is the optimum tree/landscape material planting season.
When a partnership is approved, the city of Roswell matches the partner’s cash and in-kind donations 50:50.
“Typically, the city will match the partner’s donations ranging from a low of $500 to a high of $5,000,” said Blitch. “The city will accept creative match arrangements provided the partner provides a combination of cash, community donor support and in-kind volunteer labor. Thus, the city’s cash match will generally range from 50 to 75 percent of the total project costs.”
