Roswell's 'Happy' Video Wins First Place At Conference

The city of Roswell’s work to promote what it has to offer to residents has garnered the city national accolades.

Roswell recently took home five awards for projects produced by its Community Relations Division.
The agency and its staff was recognized for a community-outreach video project to promote the city’s Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department and an illustrated children’s book about local water conservation.

The projects were recognized as stand-outs by the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA), a professional organization of more than 700 public communicators and marketers from all over the nation, at the group’s annual conference held Sept. 9-11 at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead.
The city’s “Roswell Makes Us Happy” video took home two Savvy Awards: first place in the categories of TV and Video-Promotional Video and Most Creative Activity with Least Dollars Spent.
The video was released in July 2014 as a parody of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” and featured re-imagined lyrics and scenes “that showcase the wonderful variety of locations, programs, and activities that make Roswell one of the happiest places in which to live and play,” the city said.
As of September 2015, the video has been viewed more than 18,500 times online.

The City’s Drippy Dropperson: Water Ambassador book also brought home top honors, winning a Savvy Award -- first place -- for Graphic Design – Art. It was also awarded a Silver Circle Award -- second place -- for Printed Publications - Other, and an Award of Excellence -- 3rd place -- for Go Green Communication Program Efforts.
Authored by Roswell Environmental Education Coordinator Vicki Culbreth, the book shares the colorful escapades of Drippy Dropperson, a rain droplet who learns the importance of water conservation as he travels through the water cycle and eventually ends up in Roswell.
The publication was created to support Culbreth’s educational outreach at area elementary schools and includes not only the story book, but also an activity book on the reverse side.
