Shannon Lee Kirchner, 42, 'Remarkable' Mother Who Loved Retail Work

Shannon Lee Kirchner passed away Dec. 13, 2014. She was born May 21, 1972, in Marshall, Minnesota to her parents Lee and Randi Kirchner. She was an energetic bright girl who excelled in swimming with the Marshall Meters swimming team. She won many ribbons for swimming especially the back stroke. She also played basketball in high school.

Shannon attended National American University in Sioux Falls graduating with a degree in applied science medical assistant. She worked for McGreevy Clinic in Sioux Falls. She later moved to Atlanta to live with her Aunt Angela and Uncle Nick Cessario. She attended Perimeter College where she pursued a variety of degree programs, including criminal justice, but her passion was retail work.

Shannon loved retail work. She worked at Dillard’s in a variety of positions including counter manager at Chanel. Just two weeks prior to her passing, she landed her dream job at the La Mer Counter Manager at Nordstrom’s Perimeter Mall.

Shannon had one daughter, Chandler Lee Kirchner who was born Aug. 21, 1997. They were the best of friends and Shannon was a remarkable mother. Shannon was the fun mom to all of Chandler’s friends and she was always available to be part of any adventure.

Shannon is survived by her parents, Lee and Randi Kirchner of Rochester, MN; her daughter, Chandler Kirchner of Rochester, MN, her brother John and his wife, Katy of Edina, MN, her grandmothers, Anita Riddell, of Bella Vista, AR., and Flavia Kirchner, of Slayton, MN, as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

Shannon was brilliantly funny and one of the most caring, selfless women we have ever known. We will miss her smile and her wit and her caring loving spirit.

A memorial service will be held at the Roswell Funeral Home at 950 Mansell Road in Roswell on Thursday Dec. 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. There will be a church service at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1212 12th Ave NW Rochester, MN 55901 on Dec. 27, 2014, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you donate to the Chandler Kirchner College Fund in care of Randi Kirchner 6170 Granite Drive NW Rochester MN 55901.
