Shirley Strum, 76, Roswell Resident Who Loved Teaching Children

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Services will be announced at a later date.

Shirley Hickey Foster Strum, 76 of Roswell, passed away Dec. 7, 2014.

Shirley was born to the late Henderson Hickey and Mary Nydegger Hickey on Oct. 14, 1938, in Tampa where she remained for the majority of her life.

Shirley attended H. B. Plant High School and the University of Tampa, where she earned a degree in early childhood education.

Fulfilling a lifelong love of teaching children, she taught in the Hillsborough County Public School System for almost thirty years. Shirley was a kind, generous woman known for her strong, unwavering love and commitment to family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, hosting large parties and spending time with loved ones.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Rich) Beverly, Andrea (Paul) Jones; three grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, and Allison Jones; uncle John (Agnes) Sultenfuss; numerous cousins nieces and nephews.

Service arrangements to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
