Sinkhole Forms After "Distracted" Teen Driver Hits Fire Hydrant

Roswell Department of Transportation crews continue on their mission to repair a sinkhole that erupted overnight Tuesday in a subdivision on the east side of the city.

According to Roswell police, the sinkhole is located along Roxburgh Drive in the Country Club of Roswell neighborhood, which sits off Old Alabama Road.

The agency said on its Facebook page that a ”distracted teen driver” hit a fire hydrant Monday evening, which caused the road to collapse when the water started to flow underneath.

Roswell City spokesperson Julie Brechbill stated the road will be passable by Tuesday evening, ”but it will be tomorrow before we can asphalt it.”
