Sanders and her family own the two other existing Exercise Coach studios in Buckhead and Johns Creek, and have signed to open a total of 8-10 locations in the greater Atlanta area.
Beginning as Sanders’ first employee at her Johns Creek location, Stephens has now worked his way up to co-owner of the upcoming Roswell location.

The Roswell studio is significant in that it’s the first location of the national franchise to debut a completely computerized, quantified core fitness solution that the company was able to develop since its founder Brian Cygan acquired its signature technology vendor Exerbotics, maker of the world’s most advanced fitness equipment, in late 2014 in order to take the brand to the next level of innovation.
The Roswell facility, located at 1145 Woodstock Road in the Roswell Corners shopping center, held a soft opening Dec. 7. An official ribbon cutting was held Jan. 4 with Mayor Jere Wood in attendance.
Outfitted with high-tech computerized machines instead of weights or treadmills, The Exercise Coach offers highly personalized programs optimized for efficiency, resulting in only two 20 minute workouts per week that can’t be matched in effectiveness with even seven days a week of traditional activity-based exercise.
This new concept of the smart-gym is completely changing the game of health/fitness tech, moving it beyond just wearable gadgets and apps.
Now, high-tech fitness studios featuring computers -- hence the term smart-gym -- are making those gadgets, traditional exercise activity and equipment outdated.
“I am honored to be a part of the Roswell ownership team, and especially to be a part of the first studio in the nation-wide franchise to debut the first computer guided core workout, a fitness solution to a specific issue that so many Americans have been facing,” Stephens said. “With lower back pain being the number one cause of disability in the U.S. and having not had high-tech core training options exist before – until now there have only been gadgets to track sit-ups, crunches, etc. -- this innovation solves a major problem that traditional exercise, equipment and health-tech gadgets have failed to answer thus far.”
Founded in 2000, The Exercise Coach began franchising in 2011 and currently has 34 locations operating in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Colorado, Tennessee and Arizona, with another 35 in development throughout the US.
The company expects to have a total of more than 200 locations open over the next five years and an eventual footprint of more than 500 locations throughout the US.
