State Rep. Harry Geisinger Passes Away
The Roswell legislator ran for the Republican nomination in the state governor's race in 1974.

State Representative Harry Geisinger (R-Roswell) has passed away.

That’s according to Jim Galloway with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, who reports Geisinger, 81, died following a long battle with leukemia.
Geisinger was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1968 and served until 1974. He ran for the Republican nomination in the state’s governor’s race in 1974, but lost the bid to Macon Mayor Ronnie Thompson.

He was subsequently re-elected to the Georgia House in 2004 to represent Roswell.
He was best known for his advocacy for the horse-racing industry, the AJC notes.
According to his website, Geisinger was a Navy veteran whose ”start in the working world began at age 7 with door to door magazine sales.”
His career in the sales advertising and cole brokerage earned him an appointment by the Reagan administration as administrator of the Southeaster Power Administration.
