Using Technology to Help Keep Better Eye on the Kids This Summer

Since school is out for the summer, many kids will spend time at home alone. Verizon has some exciting new devices that will help keep child safety top-of-mind for parents as they try and keep the kids safe!

Local Verizon representative Zakir Burrow offers five tips on how to keep kids safer this summer:

· The GizmoPal 2 is a fun, watch-like wearable device for kids that provides two-way calling so your child can stay connected to up to four pre-programmed contacts (Mom, Dad, Grandma, babysitter, etc.). It’s enabled with GPS so parents can locate a child from a phone and get alerts if they cross set GPS boundaries.

· The Glympse app helps families stay safe by allowing users to securely share their GPS location in real-time so you can easily find one another in a crowded theme park, track kids as they walk home from a friend's house and even direct emergency personnel to your location quickly.

· Compile list of emergency contact numbers for your younger kids to carry with them at all times.

· Provide older children with a mobile phone to provide quick access to saved numbers.

· Establish family meeting place if an emergency occurs and a child is separated from his or her family.
