Veteran Coach Leo Hilton Named Director of Boys Lacrosse at Fellowship Christian School

Leo Hilton has joined Fellowship Christian School as director of boys lacrosse at Fellowship Christian School.

Long-time Atlanta area lacrosse coach Leo Hilton has been named director of boys lacrosse at Fellowship Christian School, it was announced by Athletic Director David Lowery.

“I am excited to announce the hiring of our new director of boys lacrosse, Leo Hilton,” Athletic Director David Lowery said. “Coach Hilton has a tremendous appreciation and passion for the game of lacrosse.”

Hilton joins FCS from 6A Cambridge High School, where he served as assistant varsity lacrosse coach and as the head coach for the school’s JV, freshman and eighth grade select team the past four years. Prior to joining Cambridge, Hilton coached at Woodstock and River Ridge high schools.

"I'm thrilled to join Fellowship as the Director of Boys Lacrosse,” Hilton said. “I have long desired an opportunity such as this, and I'm excited about the future of lacrosse at FCS. I look forward to building on the program's success and developing well-rounded, Christian student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom -- athletes that our community can be proud to support."

As a high school athlete, Hilton played for one of the sport’s most successful coaches, Mike Messere at West Genesee High School in Camillus, N.Y. Messere has earned 826 career wins, and is the only high school coach in the country to surpass 800 wins and has more state championships than any lacrosse coach with 15. Hilton was a member of the program when the Wildcats notched a 91-game win streak from 1981-84.

Hilton is also a coach/trainer with Coach Up.com. Additionally, he served six years in the United States Army Reserves. Hilton and his wife, Jennifer, have four children and one grandchild. The couple attends His Hands Church in Woodstock.

“Coach Hilton has a tremendous appreciation and passion for the game of lacrosse,” Lowery said. “He has applied much of what he learned from Coach Messere in developing his own coaching style of strong fundamentals and proper technique for throwing and catching. Throughout our selection process, I was impressed with Coach Hilton’s vision to lead a program and his heart for why he coaches. His knowledge of the game, the impact he desires to make in the lives of his players, and how it all ties back to honoring and glorifying God make him a great fit for FCS.”

In addition, Jake Robertson will continue in his role as the head staff coach for varsity boys Lacrosse. He will be an assistant on coach Hilton’s staff and will also be in charge of administration/compliance with the GHSA for lacrosse. Todd Cochran will continue to work with the varsity program as assistant coach and will lead the middle school program.
