As your child starts preschool.......

Here are some helpful hints to get you started off on the right foot!

If you are the parent of a preschooler it is likely that your child will start school this week or next.

Here are a few tips to help the transition go smoothly:

* Get a good night sleep the night before school.

* Eat a healthy, low sugar, breakfast the morning of school.

* Enjoy time with your child in the morning without a media screen; engage in conversation about how excited you are for them to start school and all the fun things they can expect; like a loving teacher, making new friends, new toys and activities.

* Be generous with hugs.

* Let your child help you pack their snack or lunch.

* Choose a school outfit together.

* At drop-off or carpool, reassure them that you will be back to pick them up later that day, give your child a tight hug and say “I love you”, then leave.

*Call a friend or family member and cry! It’s okay, we’ve all done it. Some of us still do it every year, even though our children are in college.
