Governor Nathan Deal signs HB34 - Georgia Right to Try Act
Georgia Right to Try Act was signed into law on Monday, May 3rd and goes into effect July 1st. May marks ALS Awareness Month.
Atlanta, GA (May 3, 2016) – The ALS Association of Georgia representatives were pleased to stand before Governor Nathan Deal, as he signed HB34, Georgia Right To Try Act into law. The legislation, authored by Representative Michael Dudgeon, allows for patients with advanced illnesses to pursue the use of available investigational drugs, biological products and devices, in consultation with the patient’s health care provider.
“We are pleased the Georgia Right To Try Act has been signed into law and grateful for all of the effort Representative Michael Dudgeon, and others, have put into passing this bill through the General Assembly,” said Executive Director, Sarah Embro. “May marks ALS Awareness Month and it is hopeful to know that those living with ALS and other advanced illnesses in Georgia, have a chance to choose treatments, along with their health care provider, that they believe will increase their quality of life.”
Georgia Right To Try Act goes into effect July 1st.
